Contoy + Isla Mujeres

Isla Contoy

Holds a special place as one of Mexico’s 67 protected National Parks, making it the most significant bird sanctuary in the Mexican Caribbean. Moreover, its mangroves have earned recognition as Wetlands of International Importance on the Ramsar List.

In the southern reaches of the island, where the warm waters of the Caribbean meet the Gulf of Mexico, lies the Ixlaché reef. This reef is a vital part of the largest barrier reef in Latin America and the second-largest globally.

What sets it apart is its reputation as a nearly pristine ecosystem, providing sanctuary to a diverse range of wildlife, including birds, reptiles, fish, and various endangered turtle species.

Isla Mujeres

It is considered a “Pueblo Mágico,” with one of the Top 10 Beaches in the World. Enjoy spectacular views of the island and the Cancún coast while ziplining over the stunning Caribbean Sea or admire the colorful fish and coral reefs at Garrafón Park. Explore the depths of the sea by visiting the Underwater Museum of Art (MUSA), this museum is located between the waters of Cancún and Isla Mujeres and features three galleries.

There are also many diving spots to explore, and one of the must-visit sites is the Manchones Reef, which houses the Bay Cross, a bronze cross that is a favorite among underwater photographers and divers.

In the downtown area, you’ll find various shops and restaurants, many of which serve Tixin-Xic fish, a typical dish of the island consisting of exquisite marinated fresh fish in an achiote and orange sauce, wrapped in a banana leaf.

Isla Mujeres Downtown The restaurants in Isla Mujeres offer a wide range of specialties, from regional cuisine to international dishes, with fresh fish and seafood often taking the spotlight.

Keep in mind that this is a full-day tour, and a substantial portion of your day will be dedicated to the boat journey, resulting in limited time for exploring Isla Mujeres.
